Some reviews from our valued Guests, also on Tripadvisor.
“Superb lodge first class accommodation.” 5 ***** Review on TripAdvisor August 2017.We stayed in the Mulberry Lodge. The attention to detail was second to none. We were welcomed by Linda, Paul and Nicky and made most comfortable. Welcome items such as fresh granary loaf, hot cross buns, fresh basil plant, juice, tea, coffee, butter, milk. Even dishwasher tablets and wash capsules, foil and cling film provided to get us started. The lodge was spotless and so tastefully furnished. We met the owner Dawn who was warm and friendly and our booking was handled by Catherine and it was a pleasure to book. Nothing was too much trouble from everyone we met. Lovely walks and a pretty lake in the grounds. Close to all tourist places in Dorset. Would return without hesitation. Thank you.
“Restful stay in Shaftesbury” [SUMMER LODGE COTTAGE] – 5 Star Review on Trip Advisor (review by: chrtay1, California, July 2017)
My family and I have stayed in other cottages in Shaftesbury but we decided to try Summer Lodge Cottage for a number of reasons. Firstly, parking in Town can be a major hassle and this cottage comes with its own parking spot. Secondly, the location is ideal for walking to the various sights and eateries around Shaftesbury. Lastly, the front of the cottage is located in a courtyard which is very peaceful and quiet. The cottage itself is light and airy with a good sized sitting room and comfortable sofa. It is very tastefully decorated with cute touches around the house. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything one needs to prepare meals if needed. Ashley provides a ‘Welcome Basket’ containing enough provisions to avoid having to shop on arrival day. The beds are comfortable and there are TVs in both bedrooms. There is ample storage space with a large wardrobe in the main bedroom. The shower was wonderful with ample room, pressure and hot water. A second toilet is located downstairs. Wifi is also available. Our favourite café is the Salt Cellar which is located at the top of Gold Hill. we have stayed in Shaftesbury a number of times and always make a point of having lunch there on at least one day. Not sure if reservations are required but it tends to get busy at lunchtime. There are 2 Indian Restaurants in Town. Chutneys gets good reviews but we prefer Aroma which is located in the Bell Street car park. We also had a Sunday Roast at the Royal Chase Hotel. This was one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in the UK with a good carvery and ample choice of side dishes. We have already reserved another week in February during our next trip to England. Looking forward to another restful and stress-free week!
“Excellent: Very Clean, warm, comfortable and spacious” [SAXON LODGE]
On arrival we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality and style of the lodge. We were greeted with numerous goodies, which were appreciated and there was an ample supply of basic consumables like dishwasher tablets, soap and toilet roll to get the week started. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was of good quality. It was lovely to have soft towels provided.
The management of the lodge was very efficient; we were visited early on in the week to find out if everything was in working order and to sort out any problems, (which we didn’t have).
The lodge is situated with 3 other lodges at the back of a caravan sales area, but don’t be put off by this. It is set back from the road and is surrounded by open fields and it is extremely quiet and rural. There were 7 of us, including 4 adults and we didn’t feel cramped or over-looked. The outside space was lovely to sit in (when it wasn’t raining).
We spent most of our time out, as the location is great for trips to: Stonehenge, Corfe Castle, Bath, the coast and Longleat. So a car is essential as even Shaftesbury is 2 miles away along a very busy road.
In conclusion, this was very good value for money accommodation. For the price, I didn’t expect such a lovely place to stay.
“Beautiful Lodge in a peaceful rural setting” [SAXON LODGE]
We spent a week in Saxon Lodge, it was fully equipped with modern appliances for all our needs. Everything had been thought of from tea, coffee, milk for our welcome drink, a selection of DVD’s, Wifi connection to patio furniture on the decking. The lodge was spotlessly clean with luxurious soft furnishings and furniture, we will definitely return in the future to relax and recharge in such peaceful surroundings, Thank you.

“What a fantastic place to stay.” [ABBEY LODGE]
Having stayed at a number of rental holiday homes in the past we were more than impressed by the comfort and cleanliness we found when we arrived at the Abbey Lodge. The lodge is immaculate and has every facility you need for a great holiday. We received a warm welcome and were pleasantly surprised by the tea, coffee and other items that we found waiting for us after a long drive. True to description the lodge was very comfortable and had all the amenities as detailed with the veranda being a great place for eating outdoors for all the family . The location is ideal for visiting all the tourist attractions in Dorset and is within an easy drive of Poole and Bournemouth.
“Excellent accommodation with surprises” [ABBEY LODGE]
5 of 5 stars This is probably the best ever self catering accommodation we’ve ever had. The accommodation is clean, tidy and everything is of the highest standard. What surprised us was the provision of bread and fruit plus drinks for our arrival. There was even milk and butter in the fridge. The towels were quite new and the bedding clean. There is ample wardrobe and cupboard space. The wifi is fast enough, 4.8 mbps in the evening which is enough to watch movies on line.
The garage on the A30 (to Sherborne) is a good landmark for finding the site and entrance to the site can also be made through the garage. The site itself suited us very well being quiet and pleasant. The two toilets and shower facility in each have been a real boon with 4 adults and two children. First class holiday experience.
“Perfect for what we wanted” [ABBEY LODGE]
Having never stayed in a lodge before, we didn’t know what to expect, We actually stayed in Abbey lodge, on arrival there was fresh fruit, cookies tea, coffee and milk, everything was immaculately clean and fresh. (6 of us 2xadults, 4 teenagers) there was ample room in the lodge with a lovely decked area for eating outside. The only thing I would recommend is maybe more lounge seating, but as we didn’t spend much time watching TV that wasn’t a problem. There is a supermarket nearby for groceries. There are so many places to visit in the local area, would definitely recommend. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay.
“Perfect family break location” [SHAFTESBURY LUXURY LODGES]
Peaceful location, everything needed in lodge. Many visitor attractions nearby. Lovely farm shop for food nearby “Udder Farm Shop”. Great Pub Restaurant nearby ‘Kings Arms’
“Excellent!” [SUMMER LODGE COTTAGE]
Stayed at Summer Lodge for a week in October. Very nicely appointed, quiet residential area, and conveniently located within a five minute walk from the town centre, supermarkets (Tesco and Budgens), local restaurants, pubs etc. Hostess Dawn very friendly and helpful, and the welcome goodies were much appreciated. Highly recommended, and would definitely stay there again.
“A wonderful home-from-home, faultless” [EASTER COTTAGE]
Extremely stylish, comfortable and welcoming, a fabulous home-from-home.. Superb location in its own off-street, peaceful courtyard setting within a short walk of local shops and supermarkets. Prices were very reasonable indeed for the quality of this property.
